Overview

The JSCE (Japan Society of Corrosion Engineering, a public interest incorporated association) is an organization in Japan that provides a forum for exchange and collaboration among researchers, engineers, and managers, intending to promote research and dissemination of technology related to corrosion protection of materials.

The activity of corrosion science and engineering in Japan has a long history. The society's predecessor was the 5th subcommittee (Corrosion Prevention Committee) under the 9th Standing Committee of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, organized in 1933. The 97th Corrosion Prevention Committee of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science was re-established in 1946 after World War II. Finally, the Corrosion Engineering Association was founded in 1974, and the name and the legal personality of the association were changed to the Japan Society of Corrosion Engineering, a public interest incorporated association.

Our association deals with various issues, from home appliances to industrial manufacturing equipment, public facilities such as water and sewage systems, vessels and ports, the global environment such as acid rain and chlorofluorocarbons, and the space environment.

The Society has contributed significantly to providing opportunities for discussion and education related to the corrosion-related phenomena, mechanism, modeling, and protection of materials via domestic annual meetings held twice each year, seminars covering various subjects, publishing Journal "Zairyo-to-Kankyo", Journal of the JCSE, and activities of many research groups.
