Regarding the Collection, Use and Management of Personal Information at the Japan Society of Corrosion Engineering

The Japan Society of Corrosion Engineering strives to handle personal information appropriately in accordance with the following guidelines on the collection, use and management of personal information.

Collection of Personal Information

The Japan Society of Corrosion Engineering (hereinafter referred to as the "Society") collects information that can identify specific individuals to the extent necessary in order to provide services in line with its business purposes.
In principle, when collecting personal information of a person, the Society shall clearly state the purpose of the collection and subsequently acquire(register) the information based on the willingness of the relevant person who provides such information.

Use of Personal Information

The Society will use the collected personal information within the scope of the following purposes in order to achieve the purpose of collection:
Identity verification, provision of services related to usage applications, billing of usage fees, and notification of changes in service provision conditions, suspension or discontinuation of service provision, and contract cancellation;
Provision of necessary information related to the operation of the Society, such as notification of elections and mutual communication between committee members; and
Other than the above, provision of information regarding various services of the Society and surveys to improve services.
However, in any of the following cases, personal information of a person may be used or provided for purposes other than the purpose of collection:

  1. When based on the provisions of laws and regulations;
  2. When there is consent from that person who provides such information;
  3. When entrusting the handling of personal data to the extent necessary to achieve business purposes
    (for example, when informing names and addresses to a company to which the Society entrusts magazine delivery);
  4. When the Board of Directors determines that such use or provision is beneficial for the activities of a branch of the Society and that the branch has an appropriate system for managing personal information; and
  5. In addition, when there is a justifiable reason to achieve a business plan approved at a general meeting.

Management of Personal Information

The Society strives to appropriately manage the personal information collected to prevent it from being leaked to outside parties, destroyed, falsified, or lost; provided, however, that personal information of a person disclosed by that person him/herself and personal information that has already been made public are not subject to the management of the Society.

Disclosure and Correction of Personal Information, and Other Matters

When the Society receives a request from a provider of his/her personal information to disclose it, the Society shall, in principle, disclose such information without delay. Additionally, if the Society receives a request from a person to correct his/her personal information, the Society shall, in principle, make the correction, etc. without delay.

Handling on the Website

The website established by the Society (hereinafter referred to as the "Website") does not use cookies. Use of the Website shall be at the user's risk. The Society assumes no responsibility for any damage caused by the use of various information obtained from the Website or other websites linked to the Website.

Changes in Guidelines for Collection, Use and Management of Personal Information

The guidelines for collecting, using, and managing personal information may be changed without notice in order to comply with changes in laws or for other reasons. The latest guidelines shall always be applied to personal information collected by the Society. Such changes shall be posted on the Society's website and become effective from the date of posting.
